Pat Shurmur said he spoke with Janoris Jenkins and made it clear his Twitter remarks were "inappropriate and offensive." Jenkins' public apology followed. Shurmur also said he wouldn't share if there was any fine or discipline for the remark.

OT Nate Solder named the Giants nominee for the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award. Well deserved for his work in the community and particularly with initiatives that involve families and children. Second time in his career Solder has been honored. Giants also mentioned in the release to announce Solder's nomination what he's been dealing with personally. Solder's son recently had a tumor removed and is undergoing a third round of chemotherapy.

Giants CB tweets insult to fan during practice

Giants coach Pat Shurmur wasn't happy that injured cornerback Janoris Jenkins used a disparaging remark to insult a fan on Twitter while the rest of the team was practicing.

That's Eli Manning working with the starting running backs and Daniel Jones (ankle) with the backups. Probably a good indication of how this week will play out. Other notables: No G Kevin Zeitler (ankle) and CB Janoris Jenkins (ankle) at practice.

Stephen A: Eli isn't a Hall of Fame QB (1:26)

Daniel Jones is "making progress," per Pat Shurmur. The Giants still need to see him move around early this week to see where he is and if he has a chance to start vs. Dolphins. Shurmur says it's too early to make a definitive statement on whether Jones or Eli Manning starts.

Pat Shurmur seemed resigned to his fate Monday night for the first time. Asked if he expects to finish out season, he replied: "Yeah, I do. We'll just have to wait and see, won't we." Then he cracked a rare joke about the tough questions. Expectations around the league are that Shurmur won't survive this mess and GM Dave Gettleman is also in trouble.

Shurmur: Eli 'did a lot of good things' despite loss

With his wife and brother Peyton looking on, Eli Manning threw a pair of touchdown passes in the first half as the Giants built a 14-point lead, only to see their offense stall in a 23-17 overtime loss to the Eagles on Monday night.

Eli Manning's wife Abby was at this game even though she hadn't come to Philly in years because of the rough crowds. Why was it important she was there? "I hadn't played in a few months," Eli said. "I don't know if I'm gonna play again. So it was pretty obvious why it was important." Wow! Raw Eli.

Pat Shurmur on the franchise-tying nine-game skid: "That's not something you want to be a part of." Asked if he plans to be allowed to coach out the season, he says yes. Doesn't see why not.

This game was so 2019 Giants. Blow a 14-point halftime lead. They don't cover the other team's best receiver on the game-winning TD of a 23-16 overtime loss. Can't even capitalize on a vintage Eli Manning half. Now tied a franchise record with nine straight losses.

Jordan Raanan ESPN Staff Writer

Eli Manning has 179 yards passing and 2 TD passes while Giants have 17-3 lead over Eagles at halftime. Darius Slayton has 154 of those yards receiving and 2 TDs. Quite the connection between one of the youngest players on roster with the oldest.
