One early name generating buzz at North Texas is Arkansas State head coach Grant McCasland. Was an assistant at Baylor before moving to Arkansas State last spring. North Texas also expected to pursue Texas-Arlington head coach Scott Cross.

Final: Rice 82, North Texas 54

The Owls pounced on the Mean Green 44-24 in the second half to advance past the opening round. Marcus Jackson scored a game-high 28 on 10-for-14 shooting, including 4-for-6 from 3. No. 9 Rice will play top-seeded Louisiana Tech Thursday in the quarterfinals.
