Ex-Rutgers big leaning to Minnesota?

We wrote earlier that Minnesota, through the hiring of Dan McHale (Seton Hall) and Kimani Young (FIU by way of New Heights AAU program and St. John's) was targeting prospects from the NYC-area. By hiring assistants with numerous ties in New York and New Jersey, new coach Richard Pitino was trying to tape an area that had never been mined by the Big Ten program, attempting to create a new pipeline for the Gophers. One player we did not mention, though, was Derrick Randall, a big who decided to transfer from Rutgers. The NYC native decided to leave Rutgers even after Eddie Jordan was hired by the American Athletic Conference program, and in the aftermath of his decision, it seemed that Iona was the logical choice for the 6-foot-8 forward. However, it would appear that Minnesota might have the inside edge on landing Randall.
